SXSW  
South by Southwest is an annual tradeshow with 120 vendors and live band showcases every night. Over 2000 bands play to industry executives, record labels, and music fans from around the world. Any band can submit their music to try to play at the show. For this March Festival they start accepting artists submissions in August and the deadline is early November.  
 
ASCAP Expo  
The music creator annual conference is dedicated to songwriting and composing. They help you hear from industry panels, engage in writing and producing workshops, learn about new avenues for marketing and promoting your music, network with peers and music industry executives, and visit music trade exhibits.
 
The Namm Show  
All the latest musical products from around the world, professional training from industry experts.
 
MIDEM  
midem takes place every year January in France and is the place where music makers, cutting-edge technologies, brands & talent come together to enrich the passionate relationship between people & music, transform audience engagement & form new business connections. They have over 6500 attendees, 3120 companies, 110 conferences, 360 journalists, & 60 gigs. 
 
North by Northeast  
This Canada Music Festival & Conference takes place every June in Toronto, Ontario. It features over 500 bands in 40 venues playing to 100,000 music fans and industry professionals. They have a conference during the day featuring conference panels and interviews with music industry professionals and companies.  
 
Popkomm  
Popkomm is the international music and entertainment business trade show that takes place every September in Berlin, Germany.  Over 400 artists place in over 25 venues. They have a conference, which features over 850 exhibitors. They also feature speakers and panels from the leaders in the Music Industry. They do take submissions on their website for your band to play at the festival.  
 
SF Music Tech Summit   Nomad Contributor
SF Music Tech takes place several times a year in San Francisco, CA. It brings together visionaries in the Music/Technology space, along with developers, entrepreneurs, investors, service providers, journalists, musicians and organizations who work with them at the convergence of culture an commerce. There are various social events to network with these attendees, but the real value is the incredible line up of panels and discussions on the most relevant and cutting edge topics in the Music/Technology space.  The site shows past shows topics and attendees so you can get a flavor of it.

This UK(England) festival with over 200 bands in 25 venues over 3 days occurs every May and features a music conference style format with industry speakers, exhibitors and more.  
 
WOMEX  
WOMEX is the world’s biggest professional music Conference, Trade Fair and Showcase for world, roots, folk, ethnic, traditional, alternative world, local and diaspora music.  
 
Music Matters  
The Asia Pacific Music Forum takes place in May in Singapore with over 1200 Delegates including 175+ Speakers, 100 Attending Press, and 40 live acts performing at three separate live music showcases.  
 
New Music West  
New Music West takes place every July in Canada. It features a conference and workshops for industry professionals and musicians. They also have over 250 bands play to fans and industry professionals.  They do take submissions on their website for your band to play at the festival.  
 
Big Sound  
Big Sound is a music industry summit and showcase that takes place in Brisbane, Australia every September. It features 3 days of conferences, panels & forums with the world's top music industry speakers. It also features over 120 of the best emerging acts in the southern hemisphere.  Bands can apply in the Spring to play in the showcases. 
 
Artist Management Conference  
Artists Management Conference known as AMCON takes place in October in New York. It is a music conference organized to benefit active and aspiring artist managers, self-managed artists and artists seeking management representation. 
 
Dewey Beach Music Conference  
Dewey Beach Music Conference takes place in Deleware every October for three nights. Artists and Bands can attend mentor and workshops by industry professionals. Bands can submit their music to play.  
 
In the City  
In the City takes place every October in England and features industry professional panels and speakers and live music for 3 nights. They do take submissions on their website for your band to play at the festival. They will not have a conference in 2011 and continue it in 2012.
