Magnatune : we are not evil Free trial: only \$15 per month
Submit your album to Magnatune

If you're a musician and would like to be on Magnatune, iLicenseMusic and MoodMixes, we'd love to hear from you!

Look at our contract terms before you submit. Our slogan is "we are not evil" and we do things a bit differently. We're extremely well known on the Internet: feel free to contact any of our musicians for their thoughts, or just ask on any Internet musician forum.

You can submit your album over the Internet.

You can send mp3s, wavs, point us to your soundcloud or to your home page. You should be willing to sign the agreement if we accept you.

We don't accept all the music that's sent to us. In fact, getting on Magnatune is intentionally difficult: we accept only about 3% of what gets sent to us. Your album has to blow our mind. Why would people pay us if the music wasn't great?

We make good money providing memberships, music licenses on iLicenseMusic and run MoodMixes (which plays our music in restaurants and shops). We're a real business, we've been making money for ourselves and our musicians since 2003, and we're really picky about the music we choose.

You need to own the rights to your own music. That means no "cover songs".

Submissions are accepted only from musicians or their management. We don't do business with labels: we will only pay the musicians directly. Will not send money to an intermediary (such as a lawyer or manager). This is an important part of our "we are not evil" guarantee.

Read this if you want to recommend an artist. You can check the status of your submission at any time.

Submitting a CD by Postal Mail

  • Our address:
      Magnatune Submissions
      454 Las Gallinas Ave, #142
      San Rafael, CA 94903
      USA
  • Write your email address and phone number on a piece of paper and include it with the CD.

  • Don't write on or otherwise mutilate your CD artwork (oh, the horror!).

  • We're not into marketing fluff, and we listen to the CDs "blind". Lots of our best releases came in on hand-written CDRs. If you're including printed material, save a tree and limit yourself to a one-sheet.

  • If we like your CD, we will contact you. If you don't hear from us, that means we didn't accept your CD (sorry!).

  • If you sent us music via our our music upload page you will hear from us even if we decide to not accept your music.
